Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for schools, teams, churches, and businesses ordering custom apparel in Portage & Southwest Michigan.
Where is the shop and when are you open?
American Screen Printing is at 6625 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002. Phone 269-323-8511. Hours Monday–Friday 10:00 AM–5:30 PM. Closed Saturday & Sunday.
How do I get a quote?
Use Get a Quote, call us, or try the Online T-Shirt Builder to design and send a quote. Include quantity, garment type, colors, print/embroidery locations, and your needed-by date.
What is a typical minimum order?
Screen printing often starts around 12–24 pieces depending on the job; embroidery minimums can be lower for caps and polos. Exact minimums depend on garment and decoration.
How long does a normal order take?
Many standard jobs run about 7–10 business days after art approval and deposit, depending on queue and garment stock. Always tell us your event date on the quote form.
Do you offer rush jobs?
Rush may be available when the schedule allows; rush fees and timing vary. Call 269-323-8511 with your due date.
Screen printing vs embroidery — which should I pick?
Screen printing works well for larger quantities and bold multi-color graphics on tees and hoodies. Embroidery is a clean, professional stitch for polos, jackets, hats, and bags. We can recommend based on garment and design.
What art files do you accept?
PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG, EPS, AI, or PSD (see the quote form). Vector art is ideal when you have it. We can clean up logos and separate ink/thread colors when needed. Bigger files can be emailed after you submit the form.
Can you match a specific brand color?
We match ink and thread colors as closely as production allows from your artwork or a physical sample. Bring a sample or describe the color on your quote — we confirm matches in production (no commercial color-system codes listed on this site).
Pickup or shipping?
Local pickup at the Lovers Lane shop is available during business hours; shipping can be arranged for out-of-area orders.
Can you set up a team or school online store?
Yes. We build OrderMyGear webstores so members order 24/7 and we fulfill from the Portage shop. See Online Stores or request a store quote.
How long have you been printing in Portage?
We’ve been an in-house shop on Lovers Lane since around 2009 — local deadline work, not a national mail-order lander.
